As Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters, we are proud to say that our wholesale coffee beans are USDA Organic certified. But that might not mean much to you if you don’t know what it means to be certified as USDA Organic.

In this post, we are excited to delve into what it means to be awarded a USDA Organic seal for our wholesale coffee beans and why that is important to you as a consumer.

When it comes to coffee, you can trust Kaldi to provide you with fresh, organic wholesale coffee beans. Shop our wide selection of coffee and know that all coffee beans are roasted to order, ensuring the longevity and freshness of each bean!

What Does Organic Mean?

Organic, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, means “yielding or involving the use of food produced with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides.”

This is important because when these different chemicals are used on products, they can have harmful impacts on the soil, along with the fact that these chemicals have been used on the food you eat.

Ensuring that certain chemical inputs have not used on the farmland or the food means that only natural — organic — products have been used to grow your food or, in our case, coffee beans.

What Does USDA Organic Certified Mean?

If a product has a USDA Organic seal on it, that means that the USDA (or the United States Department of Agriculture) has recognized that product as organic.

To determine whether a product is organic, the USDA utilizes a list of guidelines that requires:

  • A detailed record of sales and production
  • Regular on-site inspections

  • Goods sourced from farmland that has been free of chemical input for three years or more

  • No synthetic chemical inputs in the product

  • The company to have strict rules that separate non-organic items from organic materials

Common prohibited substances include synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.

Finally, in order to become USDA organic, that product must be at least 95% percent organic. If all of these conditions are met, the product is awarded certification as USDA organic.

Why Is Organic Important?

So now you understand what organic and USDA organic certification entails. But why does that matter?

At Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters, we proudly offer USDA organic certified wholesale coffee beans. We have a continued commitment to providing the best wholesale coffee beans to our customers. We are conscientious of every product used in our process and source from other organic companies that comply with the USDA’s organic guidelines.

As customers, this allows you to trace where your product originated and how it was produced. As a business, we know that we are diminishing our environmental impact and taking care of the land we have to ensure we can continue to enjoy the things we love — coffee.

That leaves one question: Does organic coffee taste better than non-organic coffee?

There is not one consensus on this question, but many people believe that the beans have a richer flavor if they’re been produced without the use of chemical inputs. But that makes sense, because using natural production methods would help produce a higher-quality coffee bean. As the customer, you can also rest assured knowing that you’re enjoying and supporting organic wholesale coffee beans.
