About the Farm

Fazenda Dutra is a family-run and owned coffee farm located in São João do Manhuaçu, Brazil. Situated 300 kilometers inland from the east coast of Brazil, it has a rich history and a commitment to producing exceptional coffee.

Farm History

In the 1950s, Jose Dutra Sobrinho inherited a 1-hectare coffee farm, which he dedicated over 40 years of hard work to develop. Despite the challenges posed by the 1986 price crisis, Jose embraced the situation as an opportunity to intensify his passion for coffee and expand the farm. His sons, Walter Cesar Dutra and Ednilson Alves Dutra, took over the farm after Jose's passing in September 1999.

Continued Excellence

Walter and Ednilson are deeply committed to their family's legacy and have invested in their coffee education. They have attended Illy's Coffee University, honed their skills, and participated in competitions, earning more than 80 prizes. Their dedication has led to continuous improvements in the quality of their coffee.

The Farm Today

Fazenda Dutra spans over 1,300 hectares, with 800 hectares dedicated specifically to specialty coffee. The coffee trees are thoughtfully interwoven with avocado trees, and the remaining land consists of preserved native forest and cultivated eucalyptus. The farm employs a full-time team of 50 employees, with an additional 250 workers during the off-season and 600 workers during the harvest period.

Quality Focus

The farm's quality program is overseen by Leonardo Rodrigues, a skilled Q Grader. Fazenda Dutra takes pride in its organic certification, natural processing method, and utilization of raised beds for coffee drying.

Cupping Notes

The coffee from Fazenda Dutra offers delightful cupping notes of chocolate, caramel, a hint of citric acidity, and a smooth body.
