Latin American Gourmet Wholesale Coffee Beans
Latin American coffee beans are known for having a mixture of bright acidity, citrus tones, and chocolatey notes. But the flavor of each bean can vary based on the environment where they are grown. In Latin America, many of the flavors associated with these coffee beans are created from the high altitude regions where these beans are grown.
At Kaldi, we offer a wide selection of Latin American gourmet coffee beans that include: Brazilian, Colombian, Costa Rican, Guatemalan, Mexican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian coffee beans.
Brazilian
Did you know that Brazil has been a leader in coffee production since the 1800s? The best of these coffee beans are found in the Cerrado region due to its high biodiversity, helping the coffee trees grow and prosper.
Brazilian coffee beans are known for their dark chocolate and nutty flavors combined with a fruity aftertaste. Ultimately, Brazilian coffee beans maintain a balance of acidity, body, and sweetness.
Colombian
Coffee beans grown in Columbia thrive on the cool temperatures and higher altitudes the highlands offer. Colombian beans often have an earthy aroma with nutty undertones, fruity notes, and a rich flavor.
Costa Rican
Costa Rican coffee beans are grown in eight different regions, giving them all unique flavors and aroma. At Kaldi, we sell Tarrazu coffee beans that are grown in the fertile soil created by Costa Rica’s volcanic mountains. The coffee trees are planted with fruit trees that provide shade. Part of the flavor and body stems from the fact that these beans are slow ripeners and are individually hand-picked to ensure only the ripest cherries are chosen.
Guatemalan
The Guatemalan Antigua coffee beans we offer at Kaldi are known for their robust and smooth feel. The growing region in Guatemala, like in Costa Rica, provides rich volcanic soil that add to the complexity of these beans. When brewed, Guatemalan coffee has a sweet caramel flavor that is mixed with chocolate and subtle undertones of citrus flavors like lemon and orange.
Mexican
Altura Mexican coffee beans are grown using Mexico’s age-old cultivation traditions. This region gives Altura beans their mellow, sweet flavor. You’ll also notice a slight nutty undertone that adds to the flavor and makes this bean great for lighter roasts.
Nicaraguan
The volcanic regions in Nicaragua provide a great spot for growing fine coffee beans. The colder temperatures at the higher altitudes allow for the beans to retain moisture before they are milled in a dry climate at a lower elevation. The final result is an acidic coffee bean that is sweet with lingering tones of citrus and floral.
Peruvian
The majority of Peruvian coffee is grown in the Andes Mountains, providing the coffee beans with some of the highest altitudes in the world. Like with many of the other Latin American coffee beans we’ve already talked about, Peruvian coffee beans are known for their sweetness, but it’s not because of the altitude. In fact, it’s the colder temperature that helps give these beans their sweetness. Peruvian beans are known for their complex but mild flavors, which often include some nutty undertones.
