When it comes to starting a coffee shop, the list of things you need seems unending. That’s why we’re here with a checklist for some of the most important coffee shop supplies you’ll need.

At Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters, all of our coffee is roasted and shipped on the same day. This ensures that you, and your coffee shop, get the freshest coffee. All that’s left is to make sure you never run out of coffee shop supplies. You can also shop our equipment and supplies to make sure you have the best products.

Your Coffee Shop Equipment and Smallwares Checklist

Follow this checklist to make sure you don’t compromise on quality, and don’t forget the basics when it comes to coffee shop supplies.

Coffee Products

If you’re starting a coffee shop, you’ll need coffee — a lot of it! That’s what makes buying coffee in bulk so vital. Make sure you find a wholesale distributor you can trust who will send fresh coffee beans directly to your business.

At Kaldi, we have a wide variety of beans available, including our espresso & blends, african gourmet coffee, Latin American gourmet coffee, and Indonesian gourmet coffee.

The Espresso Machine

Your espresso machine will become the heart of your coffee shop. Having the right espresso machine will give your drinks the distinct, fresh flavor that will become known as your brand. Find a versatile machine that will let you make all those lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and other specialty drinks your customers want.

The Espresso Grinder

Have you thought about finding the right espresso grinder? Using the right kind of grinder will ensure that your coffee beans are properly ground. For example, a smaller home grinder won’t grind the coffee fine enough which leads to the under-extraction of the shot of espresso.

Instead, commercial coffee grinders grind the coffee between two textured plates, ensuring that the coffee is ground fine enough to make the espresso. We have a wide range of espresso grinders that will help you achieve that perfect shot of espresso.

Coffee Brewers

While your espresso machine can take care of your espresso needs, make sure you have some traditional brewers on hand for making drip coffee. Additionally, having several airpots on hand to brew fresh coffee will save you time.

Coffee Grinder

Did you know that coffee begins to stale within 48 hours of being ground? Coffee remains freshest when left in its whole bean state. It’s best to grind it just before you’re ready to brew. That’s why it’s so important to have a commercial coffee grinder.

If you plan to grind your own coffee beans, make sure you have a grinder that can handle the amount of coffee beans you’ll need to grind. Make the investment now so you don’t have to worry about replacing your grinder in the future.

Blender

Having a blender can widely expand your drink menu selections, including options like frozen frappuccinos, smoothies, and other frozen drinks. Once you have the right blender, make sure you find the perfect wholesale ingredients for your coffee shop. Give our hot chocolate frappe mix a try or browse our flavors of smoothie mix and frappe mix

Refrigeration

Nothing is worse than running out of dairy products during your coffee morning rush. That’s why you should have a stock of dairy products on hand at all times, so proper refrigeration will keep those products safe for your customers to consume.

Miscellaneous

Some other things you’ll want to add to your checklist include:

  • Steaming pitchers

  • Knockbox

  • Frothing spoons

  • Brew pitchers
